Hoodoos: The Metolius Balancing Rocks
The Metolius Balancing Rocks are about an 80-minute drive from Bend. Once you get to the Oregon Hoodoos Trailhead, after crossing the unreal territories that surround Lake Billy Chinook, it’s a short walk to the hoodoos. From there, the views of the lake’s most western point are breathtaking.

But are the hoodoos man-made, or just a trick of nature? Although the latter may seem impossible, it’s the correct answer. Here is what Atlas Obscura says about it:
The rocks are remnants of volcanic activity in Oregon millennia ago. The rock spires were created by one volcanic eruption, while the balancing slabs on top were created by others. Because of their differing sedimentary make-up, the rocks eroded at different rates.
A really cool place worth seeing in this remote area of the world.
@javier such an incredible place!
