Hendricks Park was the first city park (Colonial Era) established in Eugene, thanks to the land donation made by the Hendricks family (to which the city added some more) in 1906. More about the park’s history on the first link and the Friends of Hendricks Park website.
It’s a beautiful and peaceful place to go for a hike or run, to walk the dog, or to spend some time in nature while listening to the hundreds (maybe thousands) of Western wood pewees that seemed to be there when I visited. The sun was rising strong, so the park’s shade made the hike a pleasant experience and was a great use of my time. You can see some pictures I took, and the track proving my phone was there is below:
